I took my daughter to see Pirates Friday. It was an afternoon of gleeful anticipation followed by an hour of waiting in line to get in, followed by three hours of wishing I had a sword so I could pillage and burn the projection room er, you know, just do a little editing here and there. If they’d cut about an hour and a half of pointless footage they could have had as fun a ride as the first one, which is a much better movie and still my favorite of the three.
We spent the rest of the weekend by the pool, and lunching with my grandma and aunt from Denver, and trying to find Blue Hawaii so my little Elvis fan could finally see one of his movies. It’s my favorite, but no such luck, all the video store had was Clambake, which was pretty good as cheesy Elvis movies go, so we were happy.
For your viewing pleasure: some blooms from our balcony garden that I brought inside. And that eye-searing yellow is the beginning of my daughter’s swimming backpack. I might have to frog part of it because my tension on the mesh part was a lot tighter than on the bottom, so it’s coming out kinda warped. Also I have to hit the hardware store for more mason line. Cheers.

The swimming bag is beautiful! I love the little flower buttons.
